AboutMe2.jpg

Support begins with trust

I am a birth and postpartum doula, as well as a yoga and Pilates teacher specializing in prenatal and postnatal yoga.

My journey into birth work began through my own experiences as the mother of four children. Throughout my pregnancies, births and postpartum, I experienced challenge, empowerment, fear, grief, courage and immense joy.

As a prenatal and postnatal yoga teacher, I have also had the privilege of hearing many women share their pregnancy, birth and postpartum stories. Their experiences have shown me the wide range of challenges and joys that families encounter.

My personal experiences, together with the stories families have entrusted to me, has inspired me to become a doula.

I provide evidence-based education, compassionate guidance and individualized support so that families can better understand their options, build confidence and self-trust, establish clear personal boundaries, and advocate for themselves throughout pregnancy, labour, birth and the postpartum.

Training and Qualifications
  • Certified Doula
  • Body Ready Method Professional
  • Yoga Teacher specializing in PreNatal and PostNatal
  • Mat and Reformer Pilates Teacher
  • Mother of four children

In my spare time, I enjoy hiking and backpacking. Spending time in nature helps me reconnect with myself and find a sense of calm.

I am inspired by tall trees, green moss, wildflowers, flowing streams, powerful waterfalls and mountain views. Reaching a summit can be challenging, but it is also deeply rewarding. Time on the trails energizes my body, settles my mind and allows me to reconnect with my inner wisdom.

“The mountains are calling and I must go.”
“And into the forest I go, to lose my mind and find my soul.”

Support for you and your partner

A doula does not replace a partner. Maria helps partners feel more confident and involved by suggesting comfort measures, offering practical guidance, and providing reassurance throughout labour. Her presence allows a partner to eat, rest, or take a short break without leaving the birthing person unsupported.

“Maria is an absolute angel! I can’t recommend her enough! I attended both her prenatal and postnatal yoga classes, and they were such a wonderful part of my pregnancy and postpartum journey. She creates such a warm, welcoming, and supportive environment, and her knowledge and guidance were invaluable during such an important time in my life.

Maria was so kind and patient with my daughter during our postnatal classes and would care for her so I could move my body. It was so lovely to see how Maria would interact with her. It made the experience even more enjoyable. Maria was always a great resource for information, encouragement, and support. She has a true gift for caring for others, and I know she will make an incredible doula. Anyone who has the opportunity to work with her will be in excellent hands.”
